Gordon W Draper

Mr. Gordon W. Draper is a retired elementary school principal of Livonia (Michigan) Public Schools.

Long active in community affairs, he has served in the Boy Scouts of America for over 60 years. To commemorate his 50th year, a cabin was named in his honor at Detroit's scout camp. He is bylaws chairman for the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel (MARSP) and has just finished his eleventh term, and last, as President of the Northwest Chapter of the same organization. He has recently been elected as Director of Area 25. After six terms as Chairman of the City of Livonia Youth Commission, he now serves as Livonia's Traffic Commissioner. He has served 16 years as president of his church choir at Newburg United Methodist. He is a long-time board member of his civic association and has just been elected Vice President

One of his several hobbies has been travelling. He has explored 100 countries, each of the world's 24 time zones, and has been in all of the United States and the Canadian Provinces. In fact, he has a goal of visiting all of the 3,141 counties in the United States. He now has completed 48 of the 50 states. He needs four more counties, two in Nevada, and two in California. He hopes to achieve this goal this summer. In January of 2007 he is planning on getting to his last continent, Antarctica.
